Sometimes Dreams Just Need Time

Guys... I Did a Thing.

This year, one of my goals was to network more and become more visible. If you know me, you know I'm naturally quiet, so putting myself out there has been uncomfortable. But I've learned something important: success isn't about being perfect, it's about showing up anyway.

It's about allowing yourself to be the student. Learning as you go. Pushing yourself outside your comfort zone and surprising yourself with what you're capable of.

During graduate school, I took a group counseling class. One day, a facilitator came in and led us through a drum circle. I absolutely loved it. At the time, I was working at a psychiatric hospital, and I immediately started looking up the cost of hand drums because I knew I wanted to do something like that one day.

Then I saw the prices.

Let's just say that dream had to wait.

That memory has been coming back to me a lot lately because I'm about to host my very first drum circle. I feel excited, nervous, grateful, and honestly... a little in disbelief. It feels like a full-circle moment. Something I dreamed about years ago is finally becoming reality.

(Side note: I can't remember exactly what year I was in graduate school, and I'm not about to dig out my diploma to find out. My fellow neurospicy friends understand. 😂)

I have no idea where this journey will take me, but I'm excited to find out.

I wanted to share this story for two reasons.

First, if you're reading this in time, the first person to comment will receive a free ticket to the event.

Second, I hope it reminds someone not to give up on a dream just because it feels out of reach right now.

It's so easy to convince ourselves that we're not ready, that something isn't meant for us, or that we have to be experts before anyone takes us seriously. But that's simply not true.

Growth happens by showing up.

One step is enough. One percent is still progress. Small actions, repeated over time, create big changes. And honestly? Most things eventually get done when we keep moving forward.

I'll leave you with a few questions to reflect on:

  • What does failure mean to you?

  • Is failure trying and not succeeding, or is it never trying at all?

  • What barriers are keeping you from becoming the person you want to be?

  • Is there a voice telling you it's too late?

I know it sounds cliché, but age really is just a number. Your timeline doesn't have to look like anyone else's.

Maybe your dream isn't gone.

Maybe it's just been waiting for the right season.

If this story resonated with you, I’d love for you to join me.
